How to Build an AI Chatbot

November 1, 2023 @ 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm

Description
Join us for a conversation and workshop about how AI changes software development and entrepreneurship. No technical experience required, but see ‘Workshop Requirements’ below if you want to actually build a chatbot. During the conversation, you’ll learn how to use ChatChat to explore problems and brainstorm software ideas. Then, during the workshop, learn how to use AI to build a prototype of your software idea. Hosted by Thomas Officer.

About Thomas

Thomas is lawyer turned software designer with more than 9 years experience working on startups. Previously:

  • Designer at NetDocuments (2023) where I helped define the early stages of NetDocument’s AI product, ndMAX.
  • Cofounder and designer at Afterpattern (acq. 2021), a no-code app builder for lawyers.
  • Design Fellow at Blue Ridge Labs @ RobinHood (2016) where I participated in a 4 month technology incubator and, after a major pivot, launched Afterpattern.
Workshop Requirements
Most of the tools we’ll be using have a free plan, but at the heart of your AI chatbot is a large language model from OpenAI (specifically, GPT-4). To use that, you’ll need to create a paid account with OpenAI to get your own API Key (here is a 1 minute video that explains how).
